½ cup powdered sugar
1 cup butter
½ tsp peppermint extract
1¼ cups flour
½ cup corn starch
Glaze
1½ cups powdered sugar
2 Tbsp butter
1-2 Tbsp milk
¼ tsp peppermint extract
2-3 drops red food coloring
Mint starlight candies, crushed
Combine sugar, butter and extract. Beat at medium speed until well mixed. Reduce speed to low, add flour and cornstarch. Beat until well blended. Cover, refrigerate until firm, about 30-60 minutes. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Shape rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into 1 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake for 10 minutes or until bottoms are light brown. Cool completely. In small bowl, combine powdered sugar, butter and peppermint extract. Gradually add enough milk for desired glazing consistency. Stir in food coloring. Drizzle over cookies. Immediately sprinkle with crushed candy.
